[BranD] mag’s new issue wants to caress the font lover in you
[BranD] magazine's new issue “Font Forever” is a dedication to those who love fonts and font design. But most of all is dedicated to all humans who know what to read and how to write. “In the 20th century, human made images into videos, movies, etc. They have their own history and come with special effects. However, is such carrier and culture reliable? In July 2006, the major power outage in New York had paralyzed all the electronic products like televisions and computers. What if the outage happens in a larger area and lasts for a longer time?” wonders the editor of the book. “Without electricity all audio and video materials would be gone. On the contrary, we can still read books in the daytime, and continue with candle at night. It isn’t because we have books, but because of writing and characters—the eternal culture carrier” he continues.
[BranD]’s core idea is simple. Writing and characters are important for more reasons than we ever thought. Printed letterforms are the official host of our knowledge, the ever expanding archive of our history in paper filled with symbols and characters and letters that they have one task. To make humanity more aware of itself.
Along this task, Font Forever, has gathered ten type designers from different parts of the world to share their stories with us. For more information click here
